Hoodwink PH launches new retro-modern concept store

Updated: May 17, 2019

A two-floor space beaming in a bright shade of yellow with specks of red and blue furniture details set the tone for Hoodwink PH’s passengers as they prepare to set sail for their shopping venture at its ship’s deck-inspired store.

The young and the young-at-heart will be able to navigate their path to defiance, as they experience the store’s version of contemporary clothing while enjoying the rest of its fun features.

Vintage gaming consoles, such as Pac-Man and Bomberman, will surely give you that nostalgic blast from the past feeling to accompany you while taking a break from choosing a piece to splurge on.

How about a fresh cup of your favorite coffee beverage? Hoodwink Kaffe is in collaboration with David Ong’s The Curator Coffee and Cocktails, which serves freshly ground beans by Dark Matter Theory. Its chocolate and nutty infused blend is a concoction courtesy of the EDSA Beverage Design Group. This brand new addition to the concept store will welcome you, with barista Jeff ready to accommodate and satisfy your coffee fix, just right after the doorstep at his minimalist yet playful corner.

The men’s multi-label concept store said goodbye to its former home, at fashion mall SM Aura Premier, but launched its bigger retro-modern location last February 19 at Legaspi Village, Makati.

A dash of seriousness with a whole lot of humor and fun, Hoodwink PH’s clothing concept “caters to the non-conformist,” a mind-independent individual who knows what best suits for his personality, brand manager Elaine Domingo said.

This is precisely what founder and co-owner Jappy Gonzalez envisions for Hoodwink PH, to be able to cater to a market of diverse direction. The variety of clothes that the store offers serve clients who know what they want, but when in doubt dare to explore something bold and new, Gonzalez added.

It resembles a mix of street-style and what they consider as simple, yet playful and rakish everyday closet pieces. Brands include A.P.C., Ami, Maison Kitsuné, Beams Plus, Human Made, Eytys and more, prices range from 3,000 to 30,000 Pesos.

Are you a store newbie and unfamiliar with these brand choices? Don’t fret, sales personnel such as Irish has got everything covered! Feel free to approach and ask, and let her know about your clothing needs.

You don’t need to visit multiple fast-fashion stores a month to be updated with the latest trends that fit your budget. Start saving. Sometimes all you need is a single item that you’ve been eyeing on for months to make your day a whole lot better.

Clothing is an investment, and Hoodwink PH offers quality clothing that could be kept and worn for years, along with styles that are timeless and always up to date. Domingo said that the consideration of the customer’s needs reflects the designer. It becomes a convergence of various aspects to create a visually-appealing and confidence-boosting product. There are technological inputs, manufacturing processes, and material considerations to ensure a sturdy and well-thought-of item, she added.

Being under the Homme et Femme group with other multi-label concept stores UNIVERS, Archives and Homme et Femme itself, Hoodwink PH and Gonzalez aims to always be in pursuit of what unique point of view their stores could bring in.

“H&F strives to lead with our palpable vision for fashion and lifestyle,” he said. His fashion and business interests reflect on expanding his company by franchising high-fashion brands Balenciaga, COMME des GARÇONS, Fred Perry, Off-White, Y-3, and French luxury bakery Ladurée.

Gonzalez’ vision for Hoodwink PH not only resembles a unique way of enhancing one’s style, but allows their clothing to “carve a special niche that nestles people who like to try and encourages bold but clear choices.”
